A sake brewery in Nara.

Do you know what sake is? While most whiskey is made from grains such as barley, rye, and corn, sake is made from rice. The taste and price of sake depends on whether the rice is used as is or whether the outer part of the rice is scraped off and only the sweeter part near the center is used. Some sake is like water (some sake can really be mistaken for water!) ), some sake is mellow and very habit-forming!

I know you have your preferences, but when you come to Japan, try the less habitual sake first! You might be impressed! Or it may be too watery and you may feel like you’re missing out… In any case, try a few different kinds of sake and you’ll understand the depth of flavor. This is an item to enjoy Japan.
